John Scudder Sr (1793-1855) was the first American medical missionary in Sri Lanka and India. He worked in Jaffna (Sri Lanka) and Chintadaripet, close to the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, India.
His granddaughter Ida Sophia Scudder was also a physician and lived and worked in India. She established the Christian Medical College and Hospital, in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.
CMC Vellore was set up in 1918.
The Scudders didn't agree with the Austrian Habsburgs at all, including on topics related to the Vienna General Hospital.
Those around Antara, including her parents and relatives were pro-Scudder and pro-Vellore. Hence they were also anti-Austria.
Thus, on August 28, 2025, Antara formally separates her lease proposal from the pro-Vellore side, since she couldn't submit a lease proposal that was against Austria.
Vellore was popular in Bengal and Kolkata for medical treatment, hence Bengal and Kolkata would remain on the pro-Scudder side.
The 1957 lease in favour of NS Road would get redefined in terms of the rejection that Antara faced at home. Her parents should have told her that they were altogether against her and preferred the Scudders of southern India over her. How could they make such a huge commitment to southern India and then prefer to not alert her to it?
What if Adolf Hitler had been pro-Scudder and invaded Poland on the basis of it on Sept 1, 1939?
If China scheduled the SCO summit in Tianjin on Aug 31-Sept 1, 2025, surely it had the Scudders and Adolf Hitler in mind?
The SCO summits in 2023 and 2024 were held on July 4, not on Hitler's Poland invasion anniversary.
