Costs and Benefits (2): Ceasefire

1. Was it true that Bengali developmental economists 'called' the ceasefire in the Indian subcontinent? 

It was difficult to believe but possibly true. 

2. What was the demand of the Bengali developmental economists?

The world had been shaped by Beijing, Moscow and Islamabad in a way such that Bengali men were never taken by surprise. 

However, on March 4, 2025, the day Oleg Gordievsky passed away, the news and its implications seemed to have surprised them. They couldn't repeat what the CPM Poliburo had taught them about the Gordievsky episode. Thus, the ceasefire was their way of demanding that the entire Gordievsky episode be immediately shared with them or else. 

3. Would the non-Communist side concede to the demand by the Bengali developmental economists?

The Indian Communists have to take that call. The explanation of the Oleg Gordievsky episode would lead to the unravelling of the Beleghata honcho. Bengali CPM was not as sturdy as it pretended to be. The moment Kolkata had mentioned AAP and the Beleghata honcho in the same breath, the fury of war was unleashed in the Indian subcontinent. 

Would AAP and Bengali men really care to find out about Gordievsky at such a cost?

4. What if ACJ had 'called' the ceasefire, not Bengali developmental economists?

There were two aspects to the Gordievsky episode: why Ajit-Anjali had to stay at a govt quarters called 'G2', back in the mid-1970s, in Midnapur, West Bengal. Thus, the US Govt wouldn't give primacy to ACJ over Ajit-Anjali, no matter what aspirations had been created among ACJ students with a bit of foreign travel.

The other aspect was the inability of certain Europeans to take intellectual credit for their scientific creations, including in Information Technology, so it was highly unlikely that any European nation would indulge ACJ.

Thus ACJ was left with Keir Starmer and MI6, where it had always been, where it always will be.
