See-saw, hurry up and down (51)

"The problem with your grandfather (BT) was that he was a daughter-fanatic, in a country where everyone else worhipped sons," Antara's mother used to say. If you remember, one of the reasons Kolkata held Antara in such disregard was because "really, some House, that too from the Balkans".

Preferring daughters over sons was thus a Balkan trait. In such a case, no matter what information the London-based PR firm went around gathering, it could not be about the Balkan's proximity to Washington DC, given DC was inherently patriarchal and preferred sons.

If (and when) the Balkans grew close to DC, it could not be Franz Ferdinand's fault. It was the destructive aftermath of World War 1 that brought the Balkans closer to DC. Since British intelligence was surely involved, why not ask them why the Balkans were allowed into DC after 1918, instead of tearing at currencies and economic stability worldwide?

Even after such a traumatic introduction, it couldn't have been easy for the Balkans, given the rapidly fading glory of Austrian military (yes, how contradictory it sounds today, known only for the Nazi camps it hosted in its territory) and the eternal presence of the Bidens and Tripura all over Washington DC. So the Balkans climbed onto that ramshackle vehicle called the lease, it had been orphaned and was somehow surviving in India.

When it didn't deter either Kolkata or Tripura, like it didn't deter the Obamas and Bidens in the present day, it was Balkan insistence that got the lease signed in the 1920s.

Allusions were a continuous process, you couldn't have a meltdown just on finding out about Balkan involvement in the history of paper currency notes.
