Why did Antara like visiting brick-and-mortar shops?

Because back in the American Civil War (1860s), European royals had provided 'mortar' assistance to the Union side. 

(The blackmail, that Europeans were warmongering, might have been used to take Fleece to Britain in the early 1990s.)
