Before Jamshedpur arrived on the scene in 2011, it was possible, in Delhi, to order a birthday cake (by the kilo) and in case it was a working couple, the cake box would be left deposited by the door-side, one could pick it up when one returned from work. The one in the photograph was collected in that manner, "Leaving it by the door-side then?", the delivery guy had called Antara at work and told her.
Antara came to her narrative late, but when did Sogo Shosha/Japanese trading houses decide that Nazi camps in Austria would become such a crippling blackmail against Europe? Was it after Antara moved to Delhi? Was Nagpur and Jamshedpur both involved?
Birthday cake with Coca Cola, New Delhi, August-September 2008.
